A DIY superstore built to suit its tenant. Horizont-⁠Ivanov was the investor and the general contractor.

Baumax was an Austrian DIY retail chain with more than 140 stores in 9 countries. The Pleven store stands on the main road from Pleven to Sofia and was designed around Baumax’s needs as the tenant. Horizont-⁠Ivanov was the investor and the general contractor; Baumax was the tenant.

The store has a total area of 13,000 m² and includes the sales hall, a drive-⁠in and a garden centre. The structure is mixed: precast reinforced concrete columns and foundations, and a roof of steel beams with deep-⁠profile LT sheeting. Three blocks were built; the drive-⁠in has a covered and an open part.

  • Construction costs were cut by up to 30% thanks to innovative building methods.
  • The work was finished ahead of the deadline.
  • 140 people worked on the site.
  • It was our first project with this partner.
